An ideal introduction to Himalayan trekking and Sherpa culture. We fly in to Lukla then follow the trail towards Everest with dramatic views of snow-capped Himalayan giants to reach the famous Tyangboche Monastery, perched on a pedestal with Ama Dablam and Everest as backdrop.
Walking on a good trail through forested river valleys and small villages, we pass between terraced fields and traverse hillsides towards Namche Bazaar.
Each day we walk 5-7 hours, with time to enjoy the hospitality of Sherpa hosts at tea houses along the way. The Sherpa people shaped by Tibetan Buddhism are cheerful, kind, hospitable and hardworking and the valleys reverberate with noise and activity.
Our highest point is the village of Pangboche (4000m), the highest year round settlement in the Khumbu valley. Finally we reach the monastery of Tyangboche set amidst an incredible panorama of peaks and steep valleys.
