A rewarding circular trek following an 'off the beaten track' route with magnificent high-level walking. Beginning in Gangtok, the hilltop capital of Sikkim, we follow a high ridgeline close to the mountainous border of Sikkim and Nepal with panoramic views on all sides. The highest point, the Danphe Bir La 'The Pass of the Pheasant" (4630m) reveals a Himalayan skyline extending as far as the Everest giants.

Altitude, cold nights and the remoteness will make physical demands seem greater. After 8 days of trekking we join the regular trail to the view of Goeche La and stand beneath prayer flags looking towards the immense ice cliffs and snow fields of Kanchenjunga (8598m), the third highest mountain in the world.

Final days are spent in Darjeeling - tea plantations, the Toy Railway, frenetic markets and memorabilia of the British 'Raj'.
