Peaks and Ridges in the Pyrenees

Peaks and Ridges in the Pyrenees

The Pyrenees at their best - great trails, two excellent, fully catered refuges and our local guide's intimate knowledge all combine for an energetic and rewarding visit to these uncrowded mountains on either side of the Ariège valley in the eastern Pyrenees. Overnighting at 2100m means that that several peaks at around 2900m are easily accessible as day walks though rarely with hands in pockets! Minimal overnight gear (no s/bags) will fit easily into your daysack.

The Ariège, the region just north of the Andorran French border is a true wilderness where peaks, mountain lakes and ridges abound in relative tranquillity - bears have even been re introduced here. The diverse floral carpet is an overwhelming feature in July/August and with temperatures at altitude several degrees cooler than the valley, the air remains fresh while the sun shines.

What our clients say…

“I thoroughly enjoyed my week’s hiking. It was one of the best things I have ever done. It really was fantastic and James, our guide, was brilliant. A great way to get away from it all!”
Teresa Farrington, Pyrenees Peaks and Ridges

“I loved the mountains, the itinerary, the people and the trip! Everything was wonderful. The experience was invigorating. The leadership superb!”
Diane Tindell, Pyrenees Peaks and Ridges

“I don’t easily award full marks in questionnaires……short of providing a free bar, I don’t think this trip could be improved on!”
Andy Ashley, Pyrenees Peaks and Ridges

We couldn’t fault this trip!”
